Mexico Packing Guide
Packing for Mexico is mostly about comfort, sun, water, documents, and not bringing three pairs of shoes you will never wear.

Flying into Cancun first? Begin with the Cancun Airport Guide, then use these guides to plan the fun parts without overthinking every mile.
This guide keeps transportation simple on purpose. For detailed arrival steps, airport transportation choices, and first-day advice, use the Cancun Airport Guide. Verify current schedules, prices, and rules before travel.
Start With the Important Stuff
Passport, payment cards, travel confirmations, medications, phone, charger, and copies of important documents come first. Everything else is easier to replace than your passport or prescription.
If you take daily medicine, pack more than the exact number of doses. Travel delays do not care how organized your pill case looked at home.
Clothing That Actually Makes Sense
Lightweight clothes, swimsuits, sandals, a hat, sunglasses, and one decent outfit will handle most trips. A light layer can help for air-conditioned buses, airports, and restaurants.
Most people overpack jeans and shoes. Mexico beach weather is where heavy denim goes to reconsider its life choices.
Beach and Day Trip Items
- Sunscreen
- Bug spray
- Waterproof phone pouch
- Portable charger
- Small backpack or beach bag
- Reusable water bottle
- Quick-dry towel
- Sunglasses and hat
Money and Tech
Bring at least two payment methods. Carry some pesos in small bills for tips, taxis, ferry moments, bathrooms, and small vendors. Notify your bank before travel if needed.
For tech, bring charging cables, a battery pack, and any adapters you actually need. The most common forgotten item may be the one charger everyone swore was already packed.
